AYM Sports Tournament

This past Sunday, AYM held its monthly sports tournament, bringing together teams of high schoolers and college students from across the area to compete in friendly games of basketball and volleyball.

The event was a great success, with a team of high schoolers from Alameda High taking home the championship in the 5 on 5 basketball tournament, and a team from UC Berkeley coming out on top in the 6 on 6 volleyball tournament.

The AYM sports tournament is a great example of how sports can bring people together and build community. By providing a fun and friendly environment for young athletes to compete, AYM is helping to promote healthy habits and foster positive relationships among students in the area. One of the most memorable moments of the event was the post-game sharing time, where winning teams were asked to share about one of their role models from their past.

For Daniel, captain of the winning volleyball team and a youth mentor with AYM, this was a chance to express his gratitude to the person who made a profound impact on his life. During his sharing time, Daniel thanked his youth group leader for sharing the Gospel with him and showing him that he had a greater purpose in life. It was a touching moment that demonstrated the power of mentorship and the importance of positive role models in shaping the lives of young people. For many of the athletes attending, this was a reminder of the impact that mentors and leaders can have, not just in the realm of sports, but in all areas of life.

If you missed out on this month's tournament, don't worry - there will be another one on July 7th and the AYM team is already hard at work planning the event. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just looking to have some fun, the AYM sports tournament is the perfect opportunity to get involved and show off your skills. So mark your calendars, gather your teammates, and get ready for another exciting day of sports and competition!
